What is life? An endless struggle for material things with money leading the forefront? A constant challenge to the top of the corporate/poltical ladder to obtain fame and fortune? Some people may have more humble ambitions like just being able to lead a comfortable life, to be able to provide for one's self and his/her love ones? Yet others who lead tough lives just target being able to meet ends meat and stay alive from either the mental torture of trying to figure out how to feed his family or the physical death of dying from hunger. What if life?..... From a Christian perspective which (either my priest or someone from the church - I forgot who) mentioned that : "If you have everything in this world and all its riches, BUT you do not have God, what do you have? And if you have NOTHING in this world but God alone, what more do you need?" is very true. I believe in God and all his works and I strongly believe in that simple yet very real comment. However, yes life as humans are not so simple. Not because it isnt, but because as humans we tend to have wants. Human wants. That makes it all too complicated. The basic questions to me are: 1) How far would you go to achieve your wants? 2) What are the wants in one's life? For me, I have been debating with myself whether I should "bring home the bread" or "strive for my goals" and I have chosen the latter *note: yes i know I have to feed my family and I have a natural obligation to give my family a comfortable life as well*. I believe that while money is indeed important, should one be a constant slave to it? This comes to the main point which I want to drive across in this post actually (yes I have gone a full circle thank you for staying with me till this point where I'm finally going to state my agenda. and yes i'd fail if this were some note writing module). Now that I am studying in SMU, I find it utterly disgusting how students are so grossly robotic almost in their struggle to get As. They fluff, mug like no tomorrow (no offence to muggers it's ok to be hardworking but I hate some... you know who those type are) and POR! (pui that's the worst) ..... for those who do not understand what "por" is, it means to "carryballs" or basically put themselves in the good light in front of professors in the hope that the professors will practice favoritism towards them. I forgot to add how disgusting students are in choosing partners for group projects.... They can be so unscrupulous and immoral! They commodify friends by adding a certain value to each person and even break the value down into different categories. Like a person is good in maths so for maths modules that person would be super popular, other than than, sorry you are unwanted. There are many other ways and scenerios how unscrupulous students can get whih I wont be able to list all here. Seriously, there is a fine line, no in fact a big fat line, to draw across wanting to strive for good grades and being a slave for it. Man... what is life? For me now though, I should be asking this question: what is school life?
